Please note that there is a Winter Weather Advisory still in effect until 6PM.
At 4AM for the NY metro area, we've already received .37" liquid precip and there is more on the way. The good news for NYC and western Nassau is that the sleet and freezing rain are out of the picture, replaced by a more simple mix of rain and snow throughout the day. However the chance of sleet still remains for Suffolk. Here's the more simple breakdown:
NYC, Newark, Western Nassau:
4AM-11AM
Precip: 100%
Liquid: .15-.25"
Snow: 1.25-2"
12PM-6PM
Precip 60% --> 40%
Liquid: .10-.15"
Snow: .50-1"
Rest of Long Island:
4AM-8AM
Precip: 100% Rain/Snow
Liquid: .15-.25"
Snow: 1-2"
9AM-2PM
Precip 100% Rain/Sleet
Liquid: .25-.40"
Sleet: 1-1.5"
2PM-5PM
Precip 50% Rain/snow
Liquid: .10-.15"
Snow: <.50"
Stay safe.
