With very unstable air in the atmosphere over the Ohio River Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and New England states, heavy rain and severe weather will occur for many areas for the remainder of Sunday and Monday just like flipping a light switch on and off repeatedly.
The above sequence of visible satellite images shows the tall clouds and associated thunderstorm cells that are flaring up due to the moisture and instability above the surface. Severe Thunderstorm warnings will continue to been spread through Ohio, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania and further eastward as the evening progresses and into tomorrow as well. The tornado possibilities will also be abound as this strong frontal system moves east. Take caution and when outdoors for the rest of today and into Monday and stay alert to any weather watches or warnings that are issued.
Into Monday, the focus more into New England as the trough becomes negatively tilted and the cold front flows off the eastern seaboard. The low will still be centered in New York state come tomorrow bringing more rain and thunderstorms all throughout NY, parts of PA and up into New England before conditions dry out Tuesday. High pressure will return & temperatures will be slightly below seasonal averages heading towards the end of the week.
