Besides a cold front that brought showers late last week, there has been very little precipitation for the entire eastern US. As we continue this holiday weekend and head towards Veteran's Day, that trend will continue. The one difference will be the winds.
National Infrared Imagery above shows a generally quiet weather situation for the country. Moist air flowing into the Pacific Northwest brought cloud cover and widely scattered showers... Deep low pressure centered north of the Great Lakes will boost the winds for the northeast in the 2nd half of the weekend & into Veteran's Day. Winds seen will generally be upwards of 15-20 mph sustained with gusts to 30 mph. A pair of cold fronts will pass by through to Monday evening, resulting in the possibility of a few showers overnight tonight and late Veteran's Day for the northeast and New England.
Looking forward to the middle of next week, a broad area of high pressure will engulf much of the country leaving peaceful but chilly autumn weather as we pass November's midway point.
Don't look now but Winter is getting closer, the skies are dark before 5 pm now. It will be 2014 before you know it!
