Take a look at the radar above and take note of the pink bands. Those are areas of sleet and/or freezing rain if cold enough. Luckily for many areas east of NYC there wasn't too much ice on the ground, maybe ~.01" with slush (which is still slippery), NJ and some upstate areas felt more of the brunt getting .02-.05" of ice that will take some time to melt with the heavy rain if it wasn't treated.
Good news is again, the rest of the precip will be rain today with temps getting into the mid 40's for NYC and LI, and nearing 40° for much of CT. Also temps will go to 33-34° meaning the moisture on the ground will not refreeze overnight.
