Getting colder...but slower and not so extreme...

Satellite picture very clear depicts the jet stream flowing down the
Rockies and moving up thru the Great Lakes. This allows the cold air to be flowing in that area of The U.S. while the east can see an ejection of moisture and milder air coming out of the Gulf Of Mexico. The jet stream heads east...so it will be turning colder in the east this week...but right now..nothing extreme like last week. Most of the storms may and should stay just offshore....so aside from some light bouts of precip. this week...Eastern Half of the Nation should not see severe winter weather.

Above...current map. Rain over lower Mississippi Valley heads northeast and affects the East tnte into Tuesday. Cold front over the
Upper Midwest may bring some rain and snowshowers later Wednesday and then a turn to colder weather.  Below......first map shows how daytime temperatures will average over the next 7 days....blue mean cold..... red above normal.  Below that....a map showing high temperatures expected for this coming Sunday....not too extreme for most part.  So enjoy one of January's thaws.
