Large storm in Midwest bringing lots of rain and wind to the East. Snow will fall in upper Wisconsin. Wet weather along the west coast will bring more wet weather to Texas by weekend. Below...dark green indicates threat for severe weather today. The remains of Patricia are over Louisiana....it's rains speading up the east coast and Ohio Valley. Another front in the Plains will merge with the remains and some snow will fly over Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin tomorrow. What left to Patricia is represented as a red "L" over Mississippi by tonight. Rain from the upper Midwest to East Coast. Many places in the East will see 1"-2" of rain.....much needed....but
here go the leaves. Below...amounts of rain expected Wednesday through Thursday. Be safe. HURRICANE PATRICIA.....the worst storm ever in The Atlantic/Pacific Hurricane Basin with sustained 200 mph winds and a pressure of 25.99". The storm will head northward to make landfall today and tonight along the Mexican coast between Lazaro Cardenas and Ixtapa Mexico. These 2 places have a population of close to 1/4 million people. Acapulco will be to the east of the eye but will also be in harm's way. Map above is for Saturday night. The moisture from Patricia will feed into a low in South Texas. The lows in the Northern Rockies will head east and all of this will merge over the East
by late next week. Below...is a projected of the mess expected late next week. Hurricane Patricia south of Mexico will turn northeast and bring potential flooding rains to Texas this weekend. Below...latest satellite picture of Patricia. Wideview satellite shows Patricia and Pacific tropical systems that will also impact the jet stream across the U.S. next week. Rainfall amounts expected as we move into this weekend. May be just the tip of the iceberg. Below...risk of severe weather today in dark green and yellow. Morning satellite/radar loop already showing tons of moisture in the southwest and more coming in from the Gulf. When you take that and add Patricia...it is not good. Just how this all plays out next week will be a problem. The World Series starts next week and in some way or from this will also play into it, just not sure how at this time. You can easily see where the cold weather is this morning. It will all be moderating ....and a slight Indian Summer pattern will gradually take over this week. Satellite shows cold front stalled over So. Florida. The dark area in the east - is clear and dry. Wet weather for Rockies.Below...weather map for tonight. Early morning temperatures show the cold air over the Central sections and it is spreading south and east. As it moves across the Great Lakes...snowshowers will fly there this weekend...those places seeing less than 1". Below...satellite showing the jet stream streaking from the Rockies to the East Coast. Some showers over Florida....upper Midwest and Southwest...otherwise nice to see more "H"'s on map than " L".s, Severe risk limited to southern New Mexico and western Texas. Long range through Oct. 20...shows much of the nation above

Quiet...for the most part....be safe. Morning satellite picture shows a healthy storm still killing the Bahamas. 130 mph winds and only moving 3-5 mph. He should pick up forward speed today and weaken slowly and stay offshore but could affect Bermuda. Below...early morning position...followed by the track of the Hurricane Center. Map is valid for Friday evening and shows stalled front offshore. Moist warm air is overrunning the cool maritime air on surface thus the reason for damp wet weather on the east coast. Rest of the nation...not bad for early October. Radar - satellite overlay shows the wet weather along the east coast....showers over the Plains and Intermountain region. Rest of the nation...fair...including Florida. Below...a wide shot of The Atlantic showing the hurricane .... The below map is the Canadian model valid for Sunday. One of the only models to continue to bring the hurricane into the Carolinas. I doubt it is going to be close to correct. Be safe...will continue to update through the day.
Shot of Joaquin early Thursday. He has 120 mph winds and is moving slowly southwest at 4 mph. The Euro model has been insisting that storm will turn northeast into the Atlantic ...and then the GFS model overnight was targeting Long ISland. The new update from that model is now trending toward the Euro....which could be a miss for much of the East....but still too early to call the shots.
