Ricky began working at Metroweather in August 2006 and currently works on Wednesday evenings and weekend overnight shifts and he occasionally fills in on Monday evenings. He is an avid skier, which has led him to a fascination with snowstorms. The first storm to really catch his interest was the famous Blizzard of 1996, which temporarily snowed in his house. Ricky also has an interest in hurricanes, especially because he has many relatives in South Florida. He even got to experience the Florida landfall of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 at the Anchorage Resort in Key Largo, first in the resort hot tub during the height of the storm and then in helping his family canoe luggage out of the flooded parking lot the next day. Ricky plans to pursue a Masters in Atmospheric Science starting in the fall 2008.
